Founded as Barnes & Brown, S.C. by former Eau Claire mayor and respected attorney G. Donald Barnes in 1975, Barnes Brown & Oesterreicher, S.C. is the law firm that fills the niche of legal needs that are encountered by all middle class families and individuals during the course of their lives. Those include Marital Agreements, Wills and Estate Planning, Probate, Purchase of a Home or Business, and sometimes, Guardianship. We want to be your family’s law firm.

Experience ... Each of our attorneys has been in practice for more than thirty years! Our legal assistants are likewise very experienced.

Competence … We are not in the “general practice” of law. The scope of our practice is very limited. We don’t do everything, but what we do, we do well.

Fair Treatment … We do not gouge our clients. We charge fees that are fair to us and fair to you. Because of our experience, in many cases we can tell you up front what our attorney fees will be. This is done after a free initial conference during which we assess your needs, make recommendations, and give you a flat fee quote for implementing those recommendations. In Probate cases, depending on the size of the estate, we generally offer the option of fees based on a fixed percentage of the estate assets, or an hourly rate.

You Come First … In advising you, we put your interests ahead of ours. We don’t recommend anything to you that we wouldn’t do ourselves in your circumstances, even if we could generate a higher fee by taking a different approach.
